"Once Upon A Tide" St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia - Kayaking & Hiking Tour Brace yourself for a day full of adventure. On this expedition you get to experience Nova Scotia by land and by sea. We spend the first half of the day on the waters of the beautiful St Margaret's Bay on the Atlantic Ocean. Kayaking along the coast we will explore many coves and islands and maybe even get the chance to encounter some playful whales or curious seals. The second half of our adventure takes place hiking in the coastal barrens near Polly's Cove where we get a 360 degree panoramic view of Peggy's Cove and the surrounding area.

St. Margaret’s Bay contains numerous islands, particularly along its eastern shores. These islands were historically used by the Mi'kmaq Nation and some contain burial sites. Today, St. Margaret’s Bay is a popular destination for sailing yachts and provides access to those exploring the many sheltered islands by way of kayak.

The coastal barrens of the Peggy’s Cove Preservation Area were created between 10,000 and 13,000 years ago during the last ice age. This unique barren landscape now contains hundreds of erratic boulders which have been deposited across the barrens and some rest gracefully on smaller rocks. Some interesting flora can be found in the barrens, including Wild Rhodora, Pitcher Plants, Sundew, Crowberries, Juniper Bush, Fiddle Head Ferns, Lady’s Slippers and Dragon’s Mouth.

Ryan our guide was very kind & knowledgable Despite some rain really enjoyed the hike and all the history Ryan provided us with. He gave us a bit of time to tour Peggy's Cove which was great then he brought us to a beautiful bay for lunch. The lunch provided was incredible Lots of healthy food and a great variety In the afternoon we went to kayaking and had a blast We saw lots of birds and some seals up close in the water. Throughout the whole day Ryan shared a wealth of information about each area we visited. We had such a great day we would recommend this adventure to anyone traveling to Nova Scotia.
